Laureen,

Thank you so much for the shout out!! The love and support I have gotten has really humbled me. It really means so much.

My mom is not doing well at all. They had four people try to put in an NG tube for nutrition and meds and they could not get it in. So, I think it is her way of saying "enough is enough!" Now to deal with the finality of things is not going to be easy. My brother and I are both struggling with this. After work I will be heading to the hospital.

Not much else to say...

Thank you all again for everything!!
Love, Beth

Good Morning PA Folks. . .

First of all, let's wish Beth V. a Happy Birthday, as well as sending an avalanche of love and prayers her way, as some may know, if connected to her thru Facebook, her Mom is not doing well and she could really use an avalanche of prayers and loving thoughts. . .  So here's to you Beth!  Hoping the year ahead will bring you much more joy than you are experiencing on this day!

Today is a workday, I am at work, after work dinner with Tony and then tomorrow, thanks to the Jewish high holy day, I have a day off. . .

Hoping you find yourself enjoying some of the sunshine and nice weather today.  Good wishes and thoughts to any facing challenging issues.

Hugs, Laureen

Thanx so much for acknowledging me and welcoming  me. I'm real glad to have found such an awesome website. Everyone has been so very nice to me.
R U in Cali? I was there for 18 mos. while in the service. Wonderful weather but the shakes scared me too much.

If you want to write back I'd be ecstatic. I have a friend who lives in Ca.
She is still in the service. I met my first hubby there in san jose. We're divorced now tho. He couldn't handle my pure awesomeness. LOLOLOL.
I'm gonna fly for now

Deanna,

Welcome to the PA Forum. . .  I see in you many similarities to myself, other than the fact that my children were grown and flown by the time I considered this life changing surgery. . .  I commuted 5 hours per day, had no time or desire to exercise and when I realized that my life had gone from being very engaging and active to one of lonely isolation due to the lifestyle I was living found myself at 254 lbs. and with a family history of type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease licking at my heels, I began to look for a way to once more be a life participator. . .  I, like you, had family members I watched go through WLS and do well, but my concern was more about the long-term effects and so my cousin pointed me in the direction of OH and it was here I learned a lot about what I needed and I researched and found the place and surgeon who ultimately gave me an opportunity to live a life that was worthwhile and next month it will be 5 years, in many ways it seems like yesterday and sometimes I wi**** were (lol). . . I wish you well and just know that the next 6 months and the first 2 years post-op are crucial times for your long-term success. . .  it took a lifetime of less appealing behaviors to get where you are, it will take a long time to change your relationship with food, incorporate some form of likeable and sustainable activity level to maintain the loose you will have.  I've no doubt you will be a great success because you sound like you've done your homework and are ready for the change!

Best wishes and please ask any questions that come to mind and someone will respond or point you in the right direction.

Laureen
